Jono developed a strong connection to the moana and a practical, hands-on approach to learning from an early age. Known for his great energy and easygoing nature, he’s always willing to lend a hand and get stuck in wherever needed.
With a passion for working in and around the water, Jono brings a mix of technical skill and real-world experience to his role. Over time, he’s developed a strong interest in technology and mechanics, which naturally led him into working with ROVs.
As ROV Custodian at Revive Our Gulf, Jono leads the delivery and development of our ROV training programme. Working closely with the wider team, tangata whenua partners, and marine scientists, he supports the safe, effective, and consistent use of ROV technology across our monitoring and restoration mahi.
His role spans training facilitation, equipment management, and in-water monitoring, all contributing to building capability within the community and supporting high-quality data collection.
