Tegan grew up in Tāmaki Makaurau, so Tīkapa Moana feels like home. After a stint overseas, she returned to Aotearoa to complete her PhD at Waipapa Taumata Rau / the University of Auckland.
With a passion for integrating science into decision-making and problem solving, Tegan’s PhD focused on understanding how marine protection can restore environments (passive restoration) in places that are lacking data.
As Revive Our Gulf’s Restoration Practitioner, Tegan’s role is to support the development of new projects alongside our partners. Tegan also oversees our ongoing monitoring mahi, supporting our continuous learning about our restoration methods and the challenges kūtai face, ensuring that we share knowledge and develop tools for future restoration experiments.
