Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland’s Institute of Marine Science is a key science partner for Revive Our Gulf, working together on research that explores how best kūtai reefs can be restored in Tikapa Moana / Te Moananui-ā-Toi, the Hauraki Gulf.
Our partnership supports post-graduate research into different stages of the kūtai life-cycle, as well as how different environmental pressures that exist in the Gulf – such as sedimentation or climate change – influence survival over time. This research, in addition to mātauranga Māori, helps to inform our approach to mussel reef restoration projects across the Gulf.
